BJJ Leeds

Jiu Jitsu in Leeds is growing at a fast pace, more and more academies are now running, many of them are full time academies. Some great competitors have come out of Leeds, showing some high level Leeds BJJ. In this article we go through some of the best Leeds Jiu Jitsu Academies. Jiu Jitsu in Leeds is certainly becoming a hotspot of BJJ in England.

Scramble Academy Leeds

https://www.scrambleacademyleeds.com/

Probably the prettiest academy not just in Leeds but in the whole of the UK, Scramble Academy Leeds is a relatively new academy however, in just a few short years it has grown to the point they have moved to much larger premises with its own chic Coffee shop. The coffee shop is a unique feature not only in the jiu jitsu leeds scene but, most places in the world! Make sure to leave time to grab a espresso nex time you pop in to the academy

The academy is run by 4 coaches, Liam Cann is the MMA/BJJ coach, a BJJ black belt who is also an accomplished competitor winning superfights on Polaris along with having MMA experience. He is an active member of the BJJ leeds community and the proper BJJ scene. One of the friendliest guys around as well! Fred Grenall is the Submission Wrestling/BJJ coach who is a BJJ European Champion in NoGi at Purple belt and Master 1 Brown Belt BJJ Gi European Champion,Michael Wood is a BJJ coach who is a brown belt and an experienced competitor. The Muay Thai programme is run by Marco Belahouane.

The academy itself is indicative of the growth of Leeds BJJ, with the facilities on offer showing how big martial arts have gotten, especially with Jiu Jitsu in Leeds.

Gracie Barra Horsforth Leeds

No list is complete without a Gracie Barra, it seems the network of Gracie Barra is everywhere, with Gracie Barra helping progress Leeds BJJ. While Gracie Barra Horsforth is a bit further out of Leeds, we still class it as part of Jiu Jitsu in Leeds. The academy is run by one of the best UK and Gracie Barra athletes in Oliver Lovell, a  Black belt world BJJ medalist at the Abu Dhabi World Pro. In addition to Oliver, the academy also has two top brown belt assistant coaches who are competitors in their own right. One of the great things about Gracie Barra is the teaching schedule that most academies adhere to, with Gracie Barra HQ producing a top quality Brazilian Jiu Jitsu syllabus to be taught at all schools, holding to the core techniques and foundation movements of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, so you can be sure you will be getting the best teaching.
The gym runs classes Monday to Saturday, with there being classes daytime and evening every weekday, with the gym offering Beginners classes, Gi, NoGi and Kids classes.

Jay is an experienced MMA fighter along with a BJJ black belt. The academy has a number of coaches with there being 3 other BJJ coaches who are all Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black belts and a wrestling coach who has competed extensively on the wrestling mats. For those daring enough to take on the wrestling mat…

AVT has one of the busiest timetables of all Jiu Jitsu in leeds (perhaps in the UK), with over 40 classes taking place throughout the week. AVT is open 7 days a week, and there are grappling classes both in the daytime and evening. Wrestling and MMA is also on offer at AVT along with a range of Womens only classes throughout the week along with Kids classes being offered monday to friday.
