What a start to the year! 2024 is already underway and it has been a great start to the year. There were some amazing matches and upsets this month at ADCC Trials Europe and WNO 22. At Progress we wrapped up a remodel of our warehouse and office (check the socials for some BTS photos). We also teamed up with Built for Athletes to release a new bag. Checkout below to get the highlights from the past month.

WNO 22 - Flograppling’s awesome event took place earlier in the month with a main event of Victor Hugo vs Nicky Rod. The brazilian ace was able to pick up a decision victory of the B-team star, aggressive submission attempts sealed the deal for the judges who gave Hugo the nod and he retained his place on top of the heavyweight rankings. Also on the main card, Diego Pato used a nasty leg lock to pick up the win over Dante Leon. The victory saw him pickup a second WNO championship belt. Mica Galvao yet again showed why he is arguably the best in the world right now. While he used a RNC from the back to win the match, he was excellent playing from his guard with submissions and sweep attempts. When the match was on the feet he showed both offensive and defensive wrestling excellence. Adele Fornarino used an Aoki lock in her match to match Nicky Ryan’s record for fastest WNO submission. Well done and congrats to all the athletes, who once again showed how much BJJ is advancing!

ADCC European Trials- The best grapplers in Europe came together to scrap over the golden tickets to the ADCC main event later this year. The action was never better than what Zagreb got to see at this event. The “Viking” Tommy Langaker punched his ticket with a dominant performance at 77kg after submitting 3 out of his 5 opponents, Tommy finished the day with an RNC choke in the finals over a fellow countryman. The other standout on the men’s side was our own Taylor Pearman. Taylor was nothing short of incredible, submitting 6 of 6 including the Polish legend Adam Wardzinski. Aurelie Levern became the first athlete at -65kg to earn a spot at the worlds, she is also the first representative from French Guiana to earn a spot on the main event. Another standout was Fightzone’s Nia Blackman who took gold in the +65kg  division with a 2-0 victory in the final.
