Owen Livesey

A judoka first, and it shows in everything he does on the mat. Owen came up under his father, a former national coach, medalled through the junior ranks and went on to represent Great Britain, taking a medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow at under-81kg. A serious knee injury interrupted the run; it did not end it. He moved across to submission grappling and MMA and kept winning — first throughout the regional scene in the UK and he quickly found his way onto the Polaris stage. His game is built on the throw: foot sweeps, body locks, and the kind of grip fighting that only comes from twenty years in a gi. Fighting big names for big stakes has been commonplace for Owen since joining us, competing against the likes of Chris Weidman, Josh Barnett, Nicky Rod, Josh Hinger, and Mohamed Aly he has represented the brand on the biggest stages of World BJJ.
